Foam Weapon Props

I am often sought out by clients to produce high end contact weapon props made of laminated cross-linked polyethylene, with carbon fiber or fiberglass cores. I most often work inside the genres of fantasy, post apocalypse, and horror.

Sometimes a client will approach me with something they have been told by another artist to create. When a customer approached me with a request for a coral weapon that changed color depending on the amount of sun and ambient temperature, my immediate response was, “This will be cool.”

While almost impossible to catch in photos, the following images show the shift in color scheme that can be achieved. The following color shift happened with less than 30 second of exposure to a 78 degree heat source and a 2 watt U.V. bulb to mimic the sun. The final photo shows the guard outside on a fully sunny and warm day.

Along with weapons, another often sought combat safe prop customers seek out are shields. The large surface areas on shields often allow for a great amount of detail and customers tend to ask for very interesting designs.
